889.0. "Official Conversion Tools?" by CLARID::TURNBULL () Thu Sep 10 1987 06:10
Now that Document is relatively stable at version 1.0, and seems
destined to become a highly used Digital formatting standard, isn't it
time that official conversion tools were written and supported, rather
than rely on the various user-created programs we are struggling with
at the moment?
There are some pretty good Runoff to Document tools around, but there
is an immediate need for a good Latex to Document converter (see note
526 and its replies). I imagine that other people would like to see
official converters for other formatters too.
Are there any plans to allocate time and resources to the creation of
official conversion tools? How do other users feel about this subject?
Cheers, Greg.
