882.0. "paged inserts n.1, n.2, n.3 etc.?" by ARVOX::MARK (Mark Gillis, 273-3516, VRO3-3/B6) Sun Sep 06 1987 10:06
Can the DOCUMENT paging algorithm handle page inserts numbered n.1 n.2 etc?
We are developing a curriculum database, containing course material, which
we want to format using DOCUMENT. We anticipate the need to develop a
teacher's guide which would be like the student text but have separate
paged inserts just for the teacher.
We want the teacher guide to be numbered just like the student text - i.e. when
the student text says lesson 5, page 127, so won't the teacher guide, but the
teacher guide will also have additional paged inserts numbered 127.1, 127.2
etc. These paged inserts would contain material just for the teacher
(suggested strategies, discussion guides, recommended analogies, answers to
problems etc.).
The problem is somewhat similar to handling version updates to the text,
although the difference is we are not replacing text, we are supplementing it.
