I apologise in advance for the incredibly basic nature of this
question.
I've been asked to help a new hire (tech.writer) get started with
VMS, Document etc. Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about
Document either. His particular problem at the moment is how to create
diagrams.
Can anyone offer simple hints on how to get started creating diagrams?
He finds the reference manual to be a little indigestible at the
moment.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Nigel

Diagrams can be included with Document text to create compound
output, but Document dosen't create diagrams. See the SARAH::SIGHT
and CLOSET/VAXUUM::DOC_GRAPHICS notesfiles for two workstation-based
graphics editors. If you don't have a workstation you can use
DECgraph and DECslide to create sixel files that can be included
into Document.

Thanks for the guidance. That's just about what we need.
