Sometime ago I had a document, I thought it was FT1 Release Notes,
that described the old doctypes and how they were replaced with
V1.0 Doctypes. I am unable to find my copy and have little success
finding that information in updated versions of the release notes.
Does anyone know where this information is documented?

The only place that info is available is in the
"VAX DOCUMENT T1.0 Release Notes for Base Level 6 Users",
to my knowledge. You can copy this from the directory
CLOSET::USE3$:[SDML.BL7]. File is called DOCT10_RELEASE_NOTES.LN0
or LN3.
