716.0. "Math in stacked lists" by CUPOLA::HAKKARAINEN (This too shall pass) Mon Jul 27 1987 17:58

    There appears to be a bug in the handling of <math> items in stacked
    lists. I've seen no documented restrictions, but the following file
    chokes:

<p>
<LIST>(STACKED\BRACES)
<LE> +
<LE> <math>(<minus>)
<LE> NOT
<ENDLIST>
    List file follows:

%DOC-I-IDENT, VAX DOCUMENT V1.0
[ T a g   T r a n s l a t i o n ]...
%TAG-I-TAG_IDENT, V1.0
%TAG-I-DEFSLOADD, End of Loading of Tag Definitions
%TAG-E-NOZONEYET, at tag <MINUS> on line 4 in file
   $DISK2:[KH]FOO.SDML;
   Tag <MINUS> specified outside its valid zone or context.
   It must be preceded by tag <MATH>.
%TAG-E-TAG_FAILS, The tag translator has detected a fatal error
-TAG-F-ABORTFORE, at end-of-file on line 6 in file
   $DISK2:[KH]FOO.SDML;
   There have been more than 0 error messages of severity level E

    The bug is that the error message should have been of the ilk:
    "<MATH> is not valid in the context of <list>(STACKED)".

    I will look at whether it is possible to lift the restriction;
    otherwise, we will document it.
