700.0. "Destination for release notes ?" by RTOADC::CAAHANS (Hans Bachner, ADG Munich) Thu Jul 23 1987 07:41
Which is the preferred destination for release notes ?
As the prod$nnn.release_notes file will be placed in sys$help, it
really should be readable (i.e. <> LASER). I tried LP, which isn't
really readable at the terminal; I tried TERMINAL, which works with
$ TYPE on a terminal, but is not the best to scan through it with
an editor; I guess it will also not look very good on a LA100/120.
Finally, I tried MAIL, but all what I got was some 20 blank columns
on the left margin and lots of lines overflowing col. 80 on the
screen.
Any suggestions / experiences ?
Thank you,
Hans.

| How do you write your release notes (RNO ?) ?

700.2 | I used MAIL | CLOSET::OTTE | | Thu Aug 13 1987 14:45 | 5 |
| When I did the release notes for VAX DOCUMENT I used the MAIL
destination. This gives you a standard ascii text file with no
escape characters or other funniness. Hope this helps,
