666.0. "DOCUMENT/BATCH uses the user's SUBMIT command" by CASEE::CLARK (Ward Clark) Wed Jul 15 1987 11:00
I have a personal definition for the SUBMIT command that invokes a
command procedure. One of the features of this procedure is that it
puts a SET DEFAULT command on the front of the user's batch job (just
like DOCUMENT/BATCH does).
It appears that DOCUMENT/BATCH is issuing a SUBMIT command (either via
LIB$DO_COMMAND or LIB$SPAWN). This command is, in turn, invoking my
command procedure.
If it is the intent to honor user definitions of SUBMIT, that feature
should be clearly documented (in HELP text) and the appropriate paper
document.
Otherwise, user definitions of SUBMIT need to be bypassed. One way to
do this is to use a SUBM_BY_DOCUMENT command instead of SUBMIT (since
the command interpreter looks at only matches the first 4 characters of
native command verbs. (Yea, I know this is a kludge, but it works!)

| This is related to note 95 and its replies - the suggestion of a
documented special symbol (95.3 ?) also holds for SUBMIT.
Hans.
