650.1 | "To be fixed...?" | NWLONG::LONG | | Wed Jul 15 1987 16:19 | 14 |

There was a [much] earlier discussion on fonts, and the issue of
the underscore character was brought up. I believe Patti or one
of the other DOCUMENT folks were talking to the font supplier
about {them|us} editing that particular character. If we had
a vt_drawing font set, you could use scan_7, but no such luck...
It may be fixed in the SDC version of the LN03 fonts. I haven't
had a chance to look at PostScript output yet, but at least in
that device it can be replaced by a macro, if you don't like the
way it looks.

650.2 | Fixed in First Release... | CLOSET::UTT | | Thu Jul 16 1987 09:55 | 7 |
| Yes, I did reply to an earlier query about this but blessed if I
remember which note...
Anyway, the underscores as supplied by the font vendors *are*
unacceptable for our uses and we have altered them (making them
higher, fatter, and wider). The fonts with the new underscore
characters will be on the V1.0 LN03 font kit.

650.3 | underscore (low bar) vs. underlining | CASEE::CLARK | Ward Clark | Thu Jul 16 1987 10:58 | 9 |
| Will the V1.0 LN03 fonts distinguish between the underscore (low bar)
character and underlining?
Same question, asked another way:
With V1.0, will DOCUMENT be able to underline an underscore (and be
able to see the both)?

| Yes.

650.5 | only one char position available | NWLONG::LONG | | Fri Jul 17 1987 13:32 | 5 |

...but I suspect the character at position '_' is the wide/fat/high
font, and the only way you can underline it is with <underline>(...).

| Note 195.* has more on underscores.
