| Gred and Sight are used most commonly.
We've been making good progress with scanned art and with a six
to postscript converter. We haven't fiddled with the postscript
much, but our books just arrived from the SDC. We hope to keep the
process as automated as possible. Some of our stuff scans in nicely
and then will not print. I don't believe that we've had figures
that print standalone, but not with Document.

636.2 | We use hacks | CRAYON::GENT | Party gone out of bounds -- B52's | Fri Jul 10 1987 16:17 | 16 |
| We are using SIGHT and two locally-grown programs:
SIXTOPS for converting sixel screen images to PostScript
images.
PTRANS for converting PECO diagrams (railroad diagrams)
to PostScript graphics files.
In both SIXTOPS and PTRANS, it was necessary to add a qualifier
to identify the use (whether standalone or to be included in
DOCUMENT output). If for no other reason, because it is
unacceptable to have standalone figures start at 0,0 (the left
edge of the figure won't print) however DOCUMENT almost requires
it.

636.3 | Attempt from a Macintosh | GENRAL::MORGAN | Brad Morgan | Fri Jul 10 1987 16:51 | 5 |
| I tried using a Macintosh. The file printed just fine stand-alone
on an LPS40, failed from within DOCUMENT. Not being a PostScript
heavy I gave up. Files available upon request.

| AutoTrol Tech Illustrator produces PS output. Now, if we only get
our LPS40 connected, we can test some of it...
