618.0. "What's the purpose of the free LN01 fonts?" by CASEE::CLARK (Ward Clark) Thu Jul 09 1987 06:13
The DOCUMENT T1.0-008 Installation Guide for Internal Users clearly
states that an LN03 field test font kit is available free of charge
(must be purchased at V1.0 time) and that an LN01 font kit must be
ordered (for cross-charge of $855).
After installing the 3 field test kits (DOCUMENT, LN03, internal
tools), I find both LN03 and LN01 fonts on the system:
$ dir doc$ln03_fonts/total
Directory DOC$ROOT:[TEX.LN03.FONTS]
Total of 267 files, 11968 blocks.
$ dir doc$ln01_fonts/total
Directory DOC$ROOT:[TEX.LN01.FONTS]
Total of 56 files, 210 blocks.
A little experimentation showed that the LN01 fonts are inadequate to
format a simple REPORT document. What are for?

The basic LN01 support is installed from the DEC internal kit only
if you say 'yes' to LN01 support. The font files (.TLN) are not
included, however. You must request these separately.
