587.0. "INXtoBRN conversion program not there" by OPUS::WOODS () Thu Jul 02 1987 11:13

    I just installed DOC010 and DOCML010 on our system, but have come
    across a strange problem. It concerns the INXtoBRN translation
    program.  (or the lack thereof)

    The following command is entered:

    	$ Doc/nodev/contents/index filename general LN03

    	DOCUMENT starts running o.k. However, just after the contents
    and index generation, INXtoBRN is not called. The following is
    a section of the printout:

    	$ Doc/nodev/contents/indev filename general LN03
    	%Doc-I-IDENT, VAX DOCUMENT T1.0-001
    	[ T a g   T r a n s l a t i o n ]...
	%TAG-I-TAG_IDENT, T1.0

   	      .
    	      .
    	      .

    	[ T e x t   F o r m a t t i n g ]...
   	%TEX-I-IDENT, T1.1

    	      .
    	      .
    	      .

    	[ C o n t e n t s   G e n e r a t i o n ]...
    	[ I n d e x   G e n e r a t i o n ]...
    	%DOC-I-IDENT, DOCINDEX version X1.00
    	%DOC-F-OPENIN, error opening 'filename.BRN' for input
	-XPO-E-NO_FILE, file does not exist

    Now, I can do the same thing on another system (same version of
    DOCUMENT), but on this system I get the following:

        $ Doc/nodev/contents/indev filename general LN03
    	%Doc-I-IDENT, VAX DOCUMENT T1.0-001
    	[ T a g   T r a n s l a t i o n ]...
	%TAG-I-TAG_IDENT, T1.0

   	      .
    	      .
    	      .

    	[ T e x t   F o r m a t t i n g ]...
   	%TEX-I-IDENT, T1.1

    	      .
    	      .
    	      .

    	[ C o n t e n t s   G e n e r a t i o n ]...
    	[ I n d e x   G e n e r a t i o n ]...
	INXtoBRN Version T1.0 <-- This is what
                                                       our version
                                                       doesn't do.

    	      .
    	      .
    	      .

    	%DOC-I-IDENT, DOCINDEX version X1.00
    	%DOC-I-PROCFILE, processing file 'filename.BRN'
    	%DOC-S-COMPLETE, processing complete 'filename.BRN'
    	%DOC-S-CREATED, 'filename_INDEX.TEX' created'

    Could someone explain to me why the copy of DOCUMENT on our system
    doesn't even invoke INXtoBRN, but the copy on the other system does.

    Note that I pulled the savesets from the other system.

    One thing I noticed, you've installed BL7 of DOCUMENT and not the
    current baselevel BL8. Can you post the actual log files involved?
    There were problems related to file names and indexing in earlier
    baselevels (and possibly in BL8, don't remember if they've all been
    fixed in BL8.)

    	Here are the log files as per .1's request. The funny thing
    is is that the same files work on another system which has BL7
    installed.

	This is the log file that worked: Note that INXtoBRN is executed
    in this one.
