551.0. "Making a check-off list?" by COOKIE::JOHNSTON () Tue Jun 23 1987 16:04

I could swear that somewhere in this notes file I read about a tag that
allowed you to get boxes in front of list elements to create a check-off
list. I searched keyword tags and found nothing. The description of
<box> in the UG doesn't seem to fit either.

Am I imagining things?

Thanx

    You are imagining a wish-list item that never got past the drawing
    board. I probably mentioned it one of those times we were going
    back and forth about rules and such...It's still on my list...but
    since I'm hoping to finally have some time to put together a
    questionnaire for internal DOCUMENT users I'll probably be forced
    to implement it out of necessity.

    Gee, Karl, I hope your diet improves with V1.0. ;-)

    Since twas I who asked for checkboxes originally, I thought I'd
    let you know how we solved it here!

    We used PICMODE (apologies to those whose sensibilities are offended
    by PICMODE :-) ) and included the TeX files. Worked very nicely
    and painlessly.

    As an afterthought, had we had a later version of DOC plus LN03s
    I would have tried using an <ICON> with a box as the icon.

551.8Good suggestions; they're all getting filedCOOKIE::JOHNSTONThu Jun 25 1987 13:218
All very good suggestions. Thanx much for the response. I need
the boxes for overheads in particular. I've tried
<list>(unnumbered\<box>(#)) which is ok but not great with slides. I'll
give <icon> a shot now and see if the results are better.

    Rose, you're right about the slides. The good news is the boxes
    are much better in V1.0, and Karl's suggestion should
    produce what's expected from the unnumbered list, regardless
    of the doctype or type size.
