513.0. "AUTODEST -- is it worth it?" by CRAYON::GENT (Party gone out of bounds -- B52's) Mon Jun 15 1987 17:04
I just shot myself in the foot with AUTODEST, and I'm not very
happy about it.
Besides encountering the problem mentioned earlier with the file
protection being set higher than the existing file, I find that
AUTODEST has changed several destinations that I did not want or
ask to be changed. What's more, is has changed those destinations
to something other than the default!
I was using AUTODEST to try and modify the POSTSCRIPT output queue.
To my surprise, I find that it also changed the output file type
of MAIL and TERMINAL to be .LINE.
What else might AUTODEST have done to me?
At this point I am going to use my trusty editor to go in and modify
the original DOC$DESTINATIONS.DAT file because 1) I know it will
leave the file protection alone and 2) I'll know what changes I
am making and I'll be happy to take responsibility for them.
