PAGE 11 of the VAX DOCUMENT Version T1.0 (Field Test Update) Release Notes: step 1 states that all DTP files should use the file type DESIGN. Prior to that, reference is made to the LOCAL.FORMATS dir. Question: base level 7 was installed prior to installing the new version. Should all .DTP file types in the old tree be renamed to .DESIGN or just those in the LOCAL.FORMATS dir? next, it states "The file name changes are:" TAG$ARTICLE.DTP TEX$ARTICLE.DESIGN . . TAG$S_REFERENCE.DTP TEX$S_REFERENCE.DESIGN . but right before this it asks us to make reference changes - the example that has been given shows us to change reference from TAG$S_REFERENCE.DTP to TAG$S_REFERENCE.DESIGN <-------------------- I'm a little confused here - is the post-installation procs asking | us to 1) rename all TAG* prefixes to TEX* in the old tree?, | 2) rename only those TAG* prefixed files on p11 to the listed | TEX* prefixed files for the old tree? | 3) leave the old files alone and just change the type from .DTP | to .DESIGN? | | If I were to change the prefixes to TEX* then the example given ----- needs to be changed to make reference to TEX$S_REFERENCE.DESIGN instead of TAG$S_REFERENCE.DESIGN. Since there exists a DOC$DESIGNS.DAT in the old tree - dirs: [LOCAL.FORMATS] [TEX.FORMATS] should I make the changes mentioned on p12 to both files and then copy them over to their corresponding dirs in the new tree or just the .DAT file in [LOCAL.FORMATS]? And, if I make the changes, this would imply that the TAG* prefixed files need to be renamed to TEX* prefixes though I have yet to find documentation explicitly stating that this. Thanks in advance. Joel

You shouldn't make any changes at all in the BL7 tree. In copying any *local* files from BL7's [DOCTOOLS.LOCAL.FORMATS] to BL8's [DOC$TOOLS.LOCAL.FORMATS], you should change any local DTP files to have the filetype DESIGN. If you have any local doctypes, then you also need to: 1. change the name of the standard file (if any) that is input in your local design file, i.e. \input DOC$STANDARD_FORMATS:TAG$S_REFERENCE.DTP would be changed to: \input DOC$STANDARD_FORMATS:TEX$S_REFERENCE.DESIGN 2. Change any references in the local version of DOC$DESIGNS.DAT that reference standard names. If you don't have any local designs, you don't need to do any of these things. |
