387.0. "Editorial comments on BL8 documentation" by COOKIE::JOHNSTON () Mon May 18 1987 18:36

Just finished sorting through the BL8 documentation (whew!!),
getting it ready to send to repro. A few editorial comments:

1. UG1 ends the Contents on page xiii and starts the Preface on
    page xi.

2. UG2 ends the Contents on page xi and starts the Preface on
    page xi.

3. Page 10-10 in Design Samples book, LETTER doctype description,
has a simple <head> tag on it, nothing else. (On second thought,
this might be in the UG2; can't read my own notes. Anyway, it's
    one place or t'other.)

4. The overhead samples in the Design Samples book has truncated
"CENTURIES" to "CENTURI" in the OVERHEAD sample, and "CENTURIE"
    in the 35MM sample.

5. I noticed in putting together the Design Samples book that
there is nothing in the sample itself to indicate the design
type. For example, all the U.S. Atlas samples have a abstract
on the title page that reads exactly the same. I think the
abstract should include a mention of the design type that the
sample is representing; or each sample should be preceded by a
part page identifying its design type. I found myself flipping
to and from the table of contents to see what kind of design
    I was looking at.

6. The table of contents in the SOFT.SPEC samples shows the
Alabama and Alaska subheader page entries indented too far to
the left; a problem I mentioned in a BL7 note. At least it
looks wrong to *ME*. If this is truly the way you intend it
to look, please comment to that effect and I'll never bring it
    up again.

(Surely you didn't think it was time to start breathing easy ???)

Keep up the good work!

Thanx

Comments noted and forwarded to the appropriate individuals (that
includes me!) Many thanks....send any other documentation comments
to VAXUUM::DOCDOC (via VAXmail), as we are still checking that account.

P.S. Glad to see that someone's getting the time to read the docset
