I just discussed the desirability of another group using DOCUMENT to
maintain some ugly specifications. They asked some questions that I was
unable to answer:
1. Can DOCUMENT handle update pages such that page 1 might be replaced
by page 1a and 1b?
2. Can DOCUMENT generate line numbers for each line of text, such that
readers can be referred to, for example, line 40 page 1, line 60
page 2, etc.?
3. Can DOCUMENT produce vertical rules in tables? (After seeing a
sample of the table format they required to effectively present
information, I can vouch for the fact that a vertical rule really
is necessary.)
4. Will landscape be available for Version 1?
For each of the above, if the answer is "no", please provide information
on when the function might be available, if at all and if it would be
painful to create a .dtp to do it.
If the answer is "yes", please provide pointers to more information.
Thanx

1. DOCUMENT does handle update pages, but numbers them .1, .2 and
so on.
2. No line numbers, not planned (not doable in DTP)
3. No vertical rules in V1.0, planned for future release (doable
but painful in DTP)
4. No landscape in V1, planned for future release. Not doable in
DTP, requires changes to the drivers.
Sorry, maybe DOCUMENT isn't the right tool for them, at least not
the present product.
