329.1 | Do you mean when you printed them? | COOKIE::JOHNSTON | | Fri May 01 1987 17:25 | 7 |
| By "scrambled", do you mean that when you printed the files on the LN03
you noticed dropped characters, 30% of a single page missing, etc? If
so, you may only need to specify /PASSALL/NOFEED when you print the
files to correct the problem (assuming you didn't already try this).

329.2 | still scrambled | CYCLPS::CARRIG | | Mon May 04 1987 15:34 | 7 |
| Thanks for your reply.
We printed the files using /NOFEED/PASSALL , and "scrambled" text
(as you descibe).
Which leads us to the conclusion that the files were corrupted in
transmission over the net.

| I had a similar problem. In the User's Guide, everywhere
an actual tag example is used or a tag is reference in text,
I got blank space. Sorta like this:
"If aligned characters are required in an example the
and tags must occur outside the example."
Makes it kinda tough to figure out the example!

329.4 | Double-check the print syntax | COOKIE::JOHNSTON | | Mon May 04 1987 20:40 | 17 |

I won't swear to this, but I think that the order of the print
qualifiers is important in this case; if I am wrong, someone
knowledgable should quickly correct me! So, I think that the syntax
must be /PASSALL/NOFEED, and not as you showed in .2.
Still trying to be helpful,

329.6 | look for the RAMs | VAXUUM::DEVRIES | Those are features, not bugs | Tue May 05 1987 14:55 | 8 |
| Another suggestion: Check that your LN03 has TWO RAM cartridges
inserted into it -- not ROMs for specific fonts, but RAMs.
These hold the down-loaded fonts used by DOCUMENT. If they are
not present, some of the fonts get thrown away in the printer
and you get blank space where they would appear.

329.7 | User's Guide part I | CYCLPS::CARRIG | | Thu May 07 1987 10:42 | 14 |
| Thanks for your suggestion, but our setup here is OK.
I recopied the documentation and am still getting blank spaces and
problems with angle brackets and angle-bracketed information.
Also, this situation occurs only with USERSGUIDE_PART1.LN3.
The other volumes are printing OK.
So again, can any one send me a clean copy of the User's Guide, Part I?
Doesn't anyone else have this problem? I have a feeling that either
the original file is corrupted, or that the file is being corrupted in
transferring over the network.
Thanks again.

I had the same problem. It's the LN03's memory supply. Put TWO LN03-CR
(or whatever) in and part I prints fine.

329.9 | GentleRAMs, be seated. | VAXUUM::DEVRIES | Those are features, not bugs | Fri May 08 1987 10:26 | 14 |
| Incidentally, when you insert the RAM cartridges, be sure they are
firmly seated.
We had an LN03 here that was dropping fonts, yet had two RAM
carts in its mouth. When I pushed the TEST button on the back of
the printer (it's marked with "T" in a circle) the test page reported
NO cartridges loaded.
We seated the RAMs firmly and pressed the test button again, and
it reported the presence of both cartridges. And things ran fine
after that.

329.10 | Hardware rev. 4.4 | RTOADC::CAAHANS | Hans Bachner, ADG Munich | Mon Jun 15 1987 09:31 | 4 |
| BTW, you need hardware revision level 4.4 on your LN03 (check the
upper right corner of your test page (produced as in .9), it should
say DEC004.4).
Hans.
