302.0. "ARTICLE won't accept <COPYRIGHT_PAGE> HELP!" by PARITY::GALLAGHER () Fri Apr 24 1987 13:25

I'm using the ARTICLE doctype to format an SPD. I am attempting
to use the <COPYRIGHT_PAGE> and its related tags (<COPYRIGHT_DATE,
PRINT_DATE, and terminating this with the <ENDCOPYRIGHT_PAGE> tag.

The system is not accepting these -- and I don't understand why
-- according to the documentation, I should be able to use them.

    Please help.

    Thanks in advance.

The documentation doe state that the <front_matter> tags are not
    available in the ARTICLE doctype.

    Can GENERAL.TWO do the job?

302.2Problems with output tooPARITY::GALLAGHERFri Apr 24 1987 23:5041

Thanks Patti -- the output with the ARTICLE doctype is much nicer.
The piece I'm doing is akin to a data sheet, and I need the title
informaton, copyright, etc all one the front page. Unless I'm not
aware (which is certainly possible) I can't get this with GENERAL.TWO
-- and I ran it through, and it didn't look nearly as nice.

Another problem I'm having with this doctype though: the file comes
out to two pages of output, consisting mostly of bulleted lists
and parenthetic information. The second page first column starts
about three inches down the page and several heads run into text
in column two. I've tried adding <PAGE> tags, adding <PAGE> tags
ending the list, then starting it again -- all to no avail. I've
got some long lines -- but the TEX error messages simply tell me
what page they're on -- they don't tell me the exact source of the
error. SO I go and print the TEX file, trace the line errors, do
what I think is fixing them (in the GNC file) and rerun also to
no avail. The only way I've eliminated the run-in heads is by removing
the Abstract, which I have set to display one-column across the
top of the document. The output looks something like this (page
    2):
      (COL1) ( COL2)
                              xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                              xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                              xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                              xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                              xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                              xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Etc...

Any help will be greatly appreciated. This is going to IDECUS,
and I'd like to get it looking as polished as possible.

BTW -- I fixed the copyright thing using your suggestion -- Thank
    you!
