209.0. "<DEFINE_BOOK_NAME> in separate file" by AUTHOR::WELLCOME (Steve) Tue Apr 07 1987 09:27
We're trying to create a separate definition file will all the
<DEFINE_BOOK_NAME> definitions in it for the RT-11 doc set, so
all books can <INCLUDE> it when they are built and we can be
sure that all the books referenence each other in the same way.
However, when DOCUMENT processes the definition file it complains
that the <DEFINE_BOOK_NAME> tags are not inside a text element
(chapter, appendix, etc.). We don't want them related to a
particular chapter or appendix, or even to a particular book;
are we missing something? How can we do this? (<INCLUDE> it
as part of the <PROFILE>, maybe? Or define it as an <ELEMENT>
in the <PROFILE>? Haven't tried that yet.)
And why does DOCUMENT care if <DEFINE_BOOK_NAME> is used within
the context of a chapter, appendix, or whatever, or not?

209.1 | use /SYMBOLS? | CLOSET::ANKLAM | | Tue Apr 07 1987 09:37 | 6 |

Did you try including them from the command line using /SYMBOLS?
I think that this is the most efficient way to include files containing
symbol definitions.

| Aha! Looking at the writeup, it looks as though that should do
the trick. Thanks much.
(I still think it would be nice to be able to <INCLUDE> the definition
file in the profile, tho'!)
