122.0. "Where's doc'n on sample files?" by COOKIE::JOHNSTON () Tue Mar 17 1987 21:19

Where in the documentation does it talk about the sample files
found in [doctools.templates]; i.e., ALASKA_ARTICLE.GNC,
FURNITURE_OVERHEADS.GNC, and so on?

I tried without success to run ALASKA_ARTICLE for LN03 and TERMINAL
output. Before reporting that they failed, I want to be a good user
and read the documentation on the files in this directory. I looked
in the release notes contents and index; nothing. Couldn't find
anything from scanning them either. Also looked in the contents and
index of the UGs and Step-By-Step and Admin. Guide. Ok, I give up.
Where are the little devils hiding?

    There are still some problems with those files (they will be carefully
    checked, so there's no need to report problems here). They were
    documented in the design samples book, which wasn't available over
    the net.

122.2Is design samples book available? Other files?COOKIE::JOHNSTONWed Mar 18 1987 13:1714
Is the design samples book considered to be stable and available, in
spite of the problem files?

If yes, who do I contact about acquiring them?

Are there any sample files available from anyone, anywhere, that
illustrate all the possible doctypes? I'll be teaching a DOCUMENT
class soon and I didn't want to invent something. I'd use some files
I already have coded, but they contain sensitive information.

Thanx

122.3Design Samples is what you want.VAXUUM::CORMANWed Mar 18 1987 13:468
    Rose:
    The Design Samples book is fairly stable; it'll be updated abit
    for Version 1, but is probably useful to you now as is. Get in
    touch with me on VAXUUM and we can see about getting you a copy.
    The Design Samples book has sample doctype files in it (the coded
    file and the output from that file).

122.4Caveate on MILSPEC doctype in Design Samples.VAXUUM::CORMANFri Mar 20 1987 09:024
    Design Samples has one chapter (Chapter 7, I b'lieve) that is
    inaccurate. This chapter is on the MILSPEC doctype, and is out of
    date, but will be updated for Version 1. So, ignore this chapter
    in the FT Version of the book.
