94.0. "Running foot for Chapter opener?" by PNEUMA::ILSLEY () Thu Mar 12 1987 08:52

    RE: Note 79 -- Thanks for the answer. \SDMLpageject worked perfectly.

    Two more questions:

    1. When you use running heads, can you select a
       running foot for just the opening page of a Chapter.
       That is, can you set up an

    IF 1st page of chapter THEN use running foot

    2. Can you align numbers in a numbered list? Currently, if you have
       a list with more than 10 elements, you get this:

       1.   xxxxxxxxxx
       .
       .
       10.  xxxxxxxxxx

       I  would like to get:

        1.  xxxxxxxx

       10.  xxxxxxxx

       Can you create an hbox for the number and set it flush right
       in the box?

    1. If you are working with your own DTP, you can set running feet
       the \chapter macro, and follow that with \omitnextfooter.
       \omitnextfooter will suppress the running foot you set for the
       1st page only.

    2. This is harder. You would have to mess with system macros, and
       I really don't recommend it.

94.2Clarification of QuestionPNEUMA::ILSLEYTue Mar 31 1987 17:4510
    1. I don't want to OMIT the first footer, I want to INCLUDE only
       that footer. In other words, I want to use the folio as a running
       foot on the opening page of a chapter. All other pages would
       have a running head. Is there some macro like \includenextfooter?

    2. That's bad news. Hardware documents frequently have a procedure
       with 10 or more steps (for example, installation or removal
       procedures). It looks very strange (and not very professional)
       to have unaligned numbers. Perhaps in the next version the
       system macros can be fixed?
94.3\donextfooterCLOSET::ANKLAMThu Apr 02 1987 09:428

    1. I think \donextfooter may be what you want. Its companions are
       \omitnextfooter, \donextheader, and \omitnextheader (where 'next'
       is really the current page.

    2. will think on a better way to handle the numbers in the future
