35.0. "Course material WITH SLIDES" by BISTRO::RAAB () Fri Feb 27 1987 10:57

    I am currently writing several courses and am using DSR/PLUS. After
    a short glance at DOCUMENT I was convinced.... Before I invest more
    time in learning the product, and since I'm already on a tight
    schedule, I would like to ask if the following is possible, and
    how, with DOCUMENT:

    write a student manual composed of mostly text and a few figures
    (mostly like a user's guide), but, with from place to place, slides
    for the instructor.

    The slides have to be in the same 'source' document for easy creation
    and maintainance. They have to be printed separatly (in order to
    make a set of slides), as weel as with the textbook. They have to
    contain some 'marking' allowing an easy cross reference with the
    textbook (like hold the page number of the page in the textbook where
    they bellong).

    Thank you in advance for your help.

    	Francois.

35.1Any answers to 37.0 yet??COOKIE::JOHNSTONMon Apr 06 1987 21:0111
RE: 37.0 has never had a reply. Now I'm also interested in the reply.
I'll be teaching DOCUMENT to a group of training people next week, and
I'm anticipating questions such as those posed in the previous note.

Is it feasible/desirable/possible to let PROFILES accept slide files as
elements? Any other ideas on how to accomplish the tasks noted in 37?

Thanx

35.2Work for ESD&P? Submit a requirementSUPER::MATTHEWSDon't panicMon Apr 13 1987 13:299
    One reason 37.0 hasn't been answered is that ESD&P has not finished
    developing a doctype for lecture courses.

    Anyone who works for ESD&P should have been asked to send requirements
    for this doctype to Nancy Clark Dorsey at SUPER::CLARK. The request
    in 37.0 sounds like a reasonable requirement; I don't know whether
    anyone's submitted it yet.

35.3Info needs wider distributionCOOKIE::JOHNSTONMon Apr 13 1987 19:4412
First, a correction; I referred to 37.0 and I meant 35.0. The note in
35.2 also refers to 35.0.

Second, I am in ESD&P at CXO. I don't recall ever seeing anything
about sending in requirements. Then again, I'm "normally" a SW Writer,
not a course developer and perhaps a memo was sent to select people.

I'll forward this info to the rest of CXO ESD&P.
