32.0. "<FOOTNOTE> documentation error" by UKOSC::BRUNNOCK (Andy Brunnock - Greyhound Man) Fri Feb 27 1987 07:25

    Hi,
    	the documentation on the <FOOTNOTE> tag (Users Guide Part 1
    - page 13-84) says that the format is :

    	<FOOTNOTE>({text}\{char})

    and the first example on the next page supports this. However, example
    2, LSE and VAX DOCUMENT all say that the syntax is

    	<FOOTNOTE>({char}\{text})

    Andy.

    {<FOOTENOTE> discrepancies}

    Your right, however, could be the fact that the 2nd example illustrates
    a <footnote> within a table. See page 13-84 of SDMLUG, Part I. When
    placing a footnote in a table, always use a number as the footnote
    character....

    Hope that this inconsistency is a bug and not a feature.

32.2documentation fixed for Version 1 release.VAXUUM::CORMANMon Mar 02 1987 11:0711
    This is definitely a documentation error in the Field Test User's
    Guide. This was noted in the Release Notes that went out with the
    documentation for BL7. Please make sure to get a copy of the R.N. and
    read them through. They can be found on-line in Note 42 of this
    Notes file.

    The syntax of the <footnote> tag is <FOOTNOTE>(char\footnote-text).
    You can use a non-numeric character in a footnote in a table, but
    this restricts the number of footnotes allowed.
