16.0. "Help us certify VAX DOCUMENT" by VAXUUM::ADLER () Mon Feb 23 1987 19:02

Before being submitted to the SDC, VAX DOCUMENT must be certified on
a variety of processors and versions of VMS. We've been told by
the SQM group (which monitors certification) that we can use field
test results from internal sites as a basis for certification.

If you're giving VAX DOCUMENT a thorough workout
(using several doctypes and using the software on a regular basis),
please use this note to tell us what processor(s) you're using
and what version(s) of VMS you're running. We, in turn, will be able
to use the resources which would have been used for certification
    to make the system better.

These are the processors on which we must be certified:

                                     ___ MICROVAX I
             ___ VAX-11/730 ___ MICROVAX II
             ___ VAX-11/750 ___ VAXSTATION I
             ___ VAX-11/780 ___ VAXSTATION II
             ___ VAX-11/782 ___ MICROVAX 2000 (TEAMMATE)
             ___ VAX-11/785 ___ VAXSTATION 2000 (VAXSTAR)
             ___ VAX 8600 ___ VAX 8650
             ___ VAX 8200 (SCORPIO) ___ VAX 8300 (SCORPIO)
             ___ VAX 8500 (NAUTILUS) ___ VAX 8550 (NAUTILUS)
             ___ VAX 8700 (NAUTILUS) ___ VAX 8800 (NAUTILUS)
             ___ MAYFAIR

These are the versions of VMS on which we must be certified (field
    test versions of V4.6, V4.7, and V5.0):

             ___ VMS V4.4 ___ uVMS V4.4
             ___ VMS V4.5 ___ uVMS V4.5
             ___ VMS V4.6 ___ uVMS V4.6
             ___ VMS V4.7 ___ uVMS V4.7
             ___ VMS V5.0

I'm running a VAXStation II (QVSS), under SDC uVMS4.5

I've been using GENERAL (heavily) and SOFTWARE (moderately), with no problems.

Same here on the VAXstation II, VMS 4.5.

We have also installed DOCUMENT with LSE, LINE, LN03, and POSTSCRIPT
support on an 8650 running V4.5 of VMS. The writer group will be
giving it a heavy going over.

DOCUMENT T1.0 will soon be installed on our cluster for the ESD&P
writing group in Reading, England.

The cluster contains the following machines:

1 8600
2 785's
2 8300's

The cluster is running VMS 4.5.

We reinstalled T1.0 this morning with DEC internals and are running
on a cluster with 1 780 and 2 8500, all running VMS 4.5. We use
local doctypes (LYNX and its offspring) heavily and OVERHEADS and
    GENERAL occasionally

We are about to install BL07 on the ASD Cluster:

    785 (TOPDOC)
    750 (EN)
    750 (EM)

    Running VMS 4.5

We have over 20 writers using DOCUMENT. Doctypes include LAYERED,
GENERAL, VMSREF, and OVERHEAD. We also plan to install DOCUMENT
on a MicroVAX II (standalone at first, then with a LAVC).

I've got 2*11/750 cluster with VMS 4.5. Everything is running smoothly
(when DOCUMENT is running smoothly, anyhing else is not).

    MicroVAX II, uVMS 4.5, supporting a writing group. Typically 6 - 10
users. Two or three people processing DOCUMENT at once is fairly
common. The HARDWARE doctype is used the most.

We are running on a cluster with 3 11/785s and 1 11/780 using VMS
4.5. We have 24 writers that are using about 5 differenct document
    styles

We are using DOCUMENT on 8200 and 8300 processors in a cluster.
In addition to a more limited extent on 750 and VAX II (Q5).

We have had DOCUMENT FT 1.0 up on the cluster for a couple of months
without any real problems. Cluster is:

    3 - 11/785's
    1 - 8650
    1 - 8700
    1 - 8800

all running VMS V4.5. We use most all doctypes and destinations
    on a regular basis.

	We're using baselevels 6, 7, and 8 on a 3 node homogeneous
VAXcluster running VMS V4.4. The machines are a 750, 780, and 785.
Not sure what pattern of doctypes are used, although GENERAL, MEMO, OVERHEAD,
SOFT.SPEC, EDUOVER, and a local variant of GENERAL for proposals, are
probably used regularly.

We're almost completely certified on all processors/configurations that
SQM requires. If anyone is running on a Local Area VAXcluster, and/or on
one of the processors listed below, please reply to this note.

Thanks,

I've got an LAVC made up a 750 and numerous VS 2000's. It has run
    DOUCMENT since BL6 -- currently it's at BL8. VMS V4.5C

    I've also run DOCUMENT BL7/8 on a VS2000 standalone -- it's my "portable"
DOCUMENT/EDUOVER system -- for example it was at DECUS -- great
for those last minute presentations --- VMS V4.5B.

Thanks for all of the quick responses! The only processors that are
not covered, then, are the VAX-11/725 and the VAX-11/730. Is anyone
running on either of those?
