1347.0. "Performance of DB applications" by ANNECY::MERCIER () Tue Aug 09 1994 11:16

Hi,

Anyone can give me a pointer for a software (DEC or third party) that allows
the automated testing and performance measurement of interactive computer
applications. I imagine a software tool supplying terminal inputs automatically
and providing facilities to check the output from the application then recording
terminal response times.
The goal is to simulate a lot of users to stress an application using a
database as RDB , Informix, Oracle under VMS and/or OSF

I have heard something about V-Test from Performance Software based in UK but
I wonder there are other products.

Thank you for your help

I'm not sure what geography you are in.

Digital has software called RTE which simulates users and collects response
times. This is not software we sell but can be offered to the customer as a
service. Either the customer comes to a benchmarking centre or Digital takes
the software (and another processor to create the users) to the customer.

In the UK, contact Paul Rowell @BBP for more details. If interested in the
"on customer site service" then contact Alan Meacock @WLO.

In the US, contact Marc Slater @MKO.

Hope this helps,

Ian

V-TEST is the most "user friendly" tool I am aware of for VMS. RTE is also very
useful but not extremely user-friendly (from what I've been told :-).
