1300.0. "Info Mgmt Presentation for Oct 12 Ann Seminar?" by STOHUB::DSCGLF::FARLOW (Simplify!) Mon Oct 11 1993 23:38

Ok. I've been asked to deliver a presentation for an upcoming client/server
announcement seminar. The presentation is to cover Oct. 12 announcements
relating to Information Management products.

With the flood of mail I've received regarding the importance of this
announcement I thought it would be easy to find a presentation that provides
a few slides on each IM product announcement - DECadmire, Rdb, ODBC, DBI,
Accessworks, DB Gateway, and DDD.

I have found a few slides here and one there but I guess I expected some concise
slides to be available to deliver to interested customers.

Can someone point me to such a presentation? Or have I overlooked something
in all the Oct 12 client/server presentations that I have seen? I would think
that there are others that need the same thing.

Thanks for your help,

Steve

PS Public repository is up to date
----------------------------------

FYI: Enclosed is the up-to-date listing of titles in the public repository and
some general information for your convenience. The listing contains all
material I have received to date. At your leisure, please check to see if
there have been any omissions and submit the items with abstracts. Also,
copy over the catalog and submit additional info where necessary for items
which you own (e.g. some are missing abstract).

The file containing the repository document titles (and abstracts, etc) is

	WILBRY::PS$PUBLIC:CARD_CATALOG.TXT

Vin has created a "Sales Oriented" listing of these materials. He and I are
keeping his listing, the card catalog, and the repository in synch.

The "short cut" logicals to the files are:

	PS$PUBLIC SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC]
	PS$DEMOS SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.DEMOS]
	PS$FACT_SHEETS SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.FACT_SHEETS]
	PS$FILTERS SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.FILTERS]
	PS$INFO_SHEETS SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.INFO_SHEETS]
	PS$MESSAGES SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.MESSAGES]
	PS$MISCELLANEOUS	SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.MISCELLANEOUS]
	PS$PIDS SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.PIDS]
	PS$PRESENTATIONS	SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.PRESENTATIONS]
	PS$PROFILES SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.PROFILES]
	PS$SUCCESS_STORIES	SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.SUCCESS_STORIES]
	PS$TRAINING SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.TRAINING]
	PS$WHITE_PAPERS SRM_ADMIN:[IM_PUBLIC.WHITE_PAPERS]

E.g. DIRECTORY PS$PRESENTATIONS:*.* will give you the listing of all
the file names of the presentation materials in the repository. The list
of titles can be easily obtained by executing the command:

	SEARCH WILBRY::PS$PUBLIC:CARD_CATALOG.TXT "* "/OUT=TITLES.TXT

This command will place the most recent version of the repository listing
(found below) in a file called TITLES.TXT in your local directory.

Help! I'm getting an invalid login error message on
WILBRY::PS$PUBLIC:*.* when I try to do a DIR.

do not forget, wilbry is moving from nu to zko - is this a network
	address issue ?

Yes, the network address of WILBRY is now 2.418 . Also of note is that
    NOVA is now 2.340 .

OK... so what do I do? I can send mail to WILBRY but cannot do a DIR
or a COPY. Isn't this something that needs to be addressed at the
    WILBRY side?

So Laurie, what is the current message that you are getting (still the
invalid login or some other message?)

If you are getting a file protection problem and are using wildcards, the
directory has probably been protected against wildcard access.

1300.9Yeh!!! It's Fixed!ANGLIN::KOETTINGLLaurie Koetting DTN 445-6436Thu Oct 21 1993 21:106
OK... It's fixed. The WILBRY System manager finally believed me when I
sent a log showing the error message and proof that my network database
was correct. Apparently the DECnet default login password was screwed
    up!

Ahhhh... on to the next frustration!
