Title: Ingres also has a Replication Server
Amsterdam - On September 13 Ingres will announce a product that is comparable
with the replication Server from Sybase. This software synchronizes decentral
databases, increasing the reliability of client-server applications. This
Ingres product is probably based on a protocol called Data Communicatie
Ondersteuning (DCO), that has been developed by a Dutch company called PON.
Ingres signed a marketing agreement for this product a few weeks ago.
The product will be available as add-on, implying that licence costs will
have to be paid. It is however possible to buy a company-wide licence.
[PON is the distributor of Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Scoda cars in The
Netherlands - HO]
