Hello, My cutomer has a VAX/VMS system running Rdb/VMS. This customer has just bought HP workstations running HP-UX for his trading room. The software running on the HP stations uses SYBASE. The customer wants to access data in the Rdb/VMS database from the HP system. My question are : Is there any way today to do that ? Does the SQL access server we provide a solution to do that ? Who should provide the SQL access client on the HP-UX system , HP or Sybase ? Do we need more than an SQL access client ? Is there any product available or announced by HP or sybase to do that ? Last question which could be an other solution : Is there any plan to extend the SQL/services client capabilities to HP-UX as it has has been done in Rdb 4.1 for SUN ? Thanks for any help Jean-Marc This note has been cross-posted in the SQL_ACCESS conference

If SYBASE has provided a SQL Access *client* capability in one of their gateways then it could be used with our SQL Access Server product to do what you want. Otherwise SYBASE(*) probably has a gateway product that accesses Rdb. Hal (*) SYBASE's gateways are actually available from SQL SOLUTIONS, a company that SYBASE bought sometime back. |
