1179.0. "Natural, Software AG and function keys " by NOT003::DENTI (Ian Dent @NOT, Nottingham, UK) Tue Aug 11 1992 16:56
A customer is porting a Natural (from Software AG) application from
an IBM system to a Vax.
Natural uses function keys a lot and the application has been written
to use F1 to F24 to move between functions.
On moving to the Vax the customer wishes to use Vt320 terminals
and wants to use the F1 to F20 keys along the top of the keyboard.
HOWEVER, there appears to be no way to turn off the terminal
interpreting the F1 to F5 keys as HOLD, PRINT, SETUP, etc.. Thus
the program never knows that F1 to F5 have been pressed.
I know this problem comes up at most Natural (VMS) sites. How has
it been solved?
Ideas please?
