Does anyone have any recent competitive information on PROGRESS as both
a database and a 4GL (I have posted this note in the RALLY competition
notes file also) ? Have we done any benchmarks ? Their big message to
my customer is that they can develop the application on the PC and run
it anywhere.
Do they run in clusters ?
Do they have any decision support tools , report writers ?
Any knockoffs would be appreciated !!
Thanks,
Elizabeth

Progress Software Corp. and Digital recently signed a CSH agreement
which allows for the joint markting and selling of the Progress
RDBMS engine and their Tools products. The tools include a 4Gl, data
dictionary, application programmer tools and end user tools. Their
strong points are their tools which run acroos a number of RDBMS
engines, and their service. They have been rated the number 1 RDBMS
vendor for service and support for the past 3-4 years.
I am forwarding a copy of the Datapro and Seybold reports on Progress,
some recent press clippings and PR releases, and a copy of their
presentation given to the recent Sales Support Symposium in Boston.
Hope it helps.
