    This is your advance notice.

Look for the new Rdb ad in next weeks issue of Digital Review or
Digital News. Keep this copy around to show people. Tell your sales
    reps.

We don't get Digital News here in Canada. Only Digital Review and DEC
Professional. Is the ad in these trade rags as well? Could you fill us
in on what it says?

Thanks. Grant.

This is great! It couldn't have been positioned better if you tried! (Did you
try??? 8^)

Which, hopefully, recalls the old adage to our customers, "Figures don't lie,
but liars figure".

I'm going to let my sales reps know about this one. Well done & kudos!

Any chance of this making it to this side of the Atlantic?

    A summary would be nice.

The ad is 2 pages. The top 2/3 of the ad is occupied by the
headline. In the middle of the heaadling is a global with a belt
around the equator containing the words "Digital's Rdb".

    THE WORLD TURNS TO
    DIGITAL FOR
    HIGH PERFORMANCE

Rdb 4.1 Commands Performance! 193.76 tpsB: VAX 6000 Model 560.

The information vital to your business is on multiple platforms from
multiple vendors such as Digital, IBM, Apple, Hewlett-Packard and Sun.

Desktop applications need to access databases from multiple platforms
such as VMS, OS/2, Macintosh, MS-DOS, Windows 3.0, Ultrix, and SUNOS.

Digital's open information management brings your world together. It
includes NAS, out Network Application Support, that's based on
international standards and Rdb, our strategic relation database for
production systems applications. The combination of NAS and Rdb lets
you access other databases such as DB2 and Oracle. The SQL/Services API
allows your desktop applications to access Rdb, currently the only
database to have tested and shown full compliance to the complete suite
of Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 123-1 publication.

Whether your business has stand-alone, SMP, networked, or VAXcluster
systems, one user or hundreds of users in multiple locations, Rdb
delivers high performance and support for large databases. High
availability, data integrity, and two phase commit make Rdb the ideal
database for supporting high-volume transaction processing,

There's also a world of tools and applications for Rdb -- from Digital
and from hundreds of vendors in our Rdb Solutions Vendor Program
    (RSVP).

And, we're the only vendor with expert systems-based design and tuning
tools, DEC RdbExpert and DECtrace, that optimize Rdb performance
according to your environment and mix of applications.

With Rdb you can build the foundation of an open information network
that's customized to your requirements. An information network that's
backed by Digital's worldwide service and support.

Once you have pulled everything together, you'll know why the world is
    turning to Digital's Rdb.

The real coup, though, it that our ad appeared on the page before
Oracle's ad which claimed that Oracle was 2.5 times faster than
    Rdb.
