We are in a competitive situation with Tandem and have questions
concerning their ability to do database backups. They are claiming
that they can provide full online backup with guaranteed integrity
without requiring that the database reach a "quiet point" prior to
start of backup.
We did not think this was one of their capabilities. Our information
suggests that a) they do not require a quiet point, but b) transactions
in progress are backed-up on a "best efforts" basis which does not
assure database integrity.
Does anyone out there know the specifics?
