I am looking for a slide/PS file specifying the features & benefits of migrating from Rdb V3.X to Rdb V4.0 - not 4.1XX. I have found a plethora of 4.1 features, I need the specifics for goint to - specifically - 4.0B. My customer is a production Rdb shop. This translates into "they move to the version-X.1B so the know the bug are out of the version X.1A." I have looked in NOVA:: and VTX. They both address 4.1, 3.X or comparison against Oracle/Sybase... Please forward any pointers via the notes conference or to me directly: Thanks in advance, James N. 1064.1 | Use the Release Notes | TRCOA::MCMULLEN | Ken McMullen | Sat Jan 25 1992 14:54 | 12 |
James, There were many new features in Rdb 4.0x. Why don't you use the release notes from that version and create your own slides. The big change (well at least for many) were the "dynamic optimizer" enhancements. I agree with your customers conservative approach to the upgrades of software on their production system. There have been several mandatory updates released for Rdb 4.0x and you should be able to get a list of the remaining "issues" that have not been addressed. Try contacting Steve Horn. As always, you should recommend to your customer to fully test the upgrade before implementing the application. | |||||

re: -1 Actually, there has only been one mandatory update released: 4.0A. 4.0B hasn't shipped yet. michael |
