1037.0. "Help on ADABAS/NATURAL" by ZPOVC::SHANYONG () Mon Dec 09 1991 10:50

    Hi,

I hope someone can help me on Adabas.

We have a customer running Adabas/Natural on VMS. They have some
response time problem. The application is running on a 6310, we loan
them a 6410, but response did not seem to improve.

We ran SPM to collect some statistics, CPU, memory, and IO all
seems to be very healthy. Basically we are not sure what could cause
    the response time problem.

Could it be their expectation from ADABAS is too high?
Could it be problem with the application?

We do can't seem to get any ADABAS info from the distributor here.
Dose anyone have any info or hint on tuning ADABAS? How can we monitor
    ADABAS activities(like RMU on RDB?)

All the distributor could give us was a sheet of paper for ADABAS
installation that involves using BACKUP command, no info of resource
    requirements.

We will be trying the application on 6510 on Wednesday, we are
desperate to improve the response time, so any one can give any hints
as to what we can do to improve our situation, will be appreciated.

    Thanks for any advice

    Hi,

Sorry I do not have any answers for you (it may be rather late anyway)
but perhaps you may be able to help me. I would like to know what the
out come of putting in the 6510 was and did you actually manage to
improve the performance in the end or are you still working on it. Also
do you have any figures for the way ADABAS was performing before and
after any adjustments to your configuration.

Any information will be gratefully received.

    SAB.
