We have had another exciting breakthrough on DEC RALLY V3.0. We are now able to access Rdb/VMS databases from the PC using SQL Services (and boy, is it fast)!! Congratulations to everyone on the team for another job well done. Field test here we come! Terri

This is a fine story to tell in an VMS environment, but what about our "Open Advantage" campain not beeing able to deliver SQL/Services on other platforms? Ketil | |||||
1026.2 | SQL/Access is the solution | BROKE::HIGGS | SQL is a camel in disguise | Tue Nov 12 1991 23:08 | 8 |
The current problem is that every database system on every platform has a different interface (no, SQL isn't an interface). To interoperate with them all is a large job, unless you come up with something common to them all. That's what SQL/Access is, and that's the approach we'll take to access other databases. Any other approach involves far too many resources. We're not standing still, but some things simply take time, especially when resources are scarce. |
