1007.0. "ANSI SPARC standard for database design?" by BIGUN::ANDERSON (The Unbearable Lightness of Being) Wed Oct 16 1991 03:58

    Infonetics have a product called Metadata that claims "is fully
    compliant with the ANSI SPARC standard for database design."

    Forgive my ignorance, but what is the ANSI SPARC standard for database
    design?

1007.1ah, the ole 3-Schema model...NOVA::HORNSteve Horn, Database SystemsMon Nov 11 1991 19:3910

    The 3-Schema Model, also known as the ANSI/SPARC 3-Schema Model, was
    developed about 1975 and is a conceptual model of a database schema.
    The model describes 3 levels, internal (physical database
    charcteristics), external (an individual users view of the data), and
    conceptual (the entire set of user visible data).
