Has anyone recently done a migration (not conversion) from ORACLE to Rdb? If so, do you have a project plan that I can use as a reference? The migration center's estimate for a CONVERSION was too high to present to the customer. We are looking for a phased approach in order to make the migration less painful. Thank you for any suggestions. Kathie O'Leary

Why don't you ask the migration center for their project plan? They must have one if they were willing to price the business.

Thank's. The migration may be a good place to start. I've read their estimation document and assume they are using tools to convert most of the code. I'm looking for a phased re-development approach in order to make the migration easier to sell. Conversion by the Migration Center has already been ruled out due to cost ($450,000). I think I'll try re-estimating the migration using an application generator like MIRA. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. Kathie

The Center for Migration Services has developed a variety of migration plans as a result of feasibility studies. Each plan is customized for a customer's environment and preferred migration strategy, but they do have some common features. Please contact our hotline, DTN 523-2002, for more information. |
