A Sales Rep just stopped by my cube and asked me if I ever heard of a product called a "Relational Accelerator" from Systems Industries. His customer claims it is some sort of back end database server. Also, apparently SI is claiming to be some sort of ISV for Digital for this product. Some questions: (1) Is anyone out there familiar with this product? If so, can you provide a brief description (hardware? databases it supports, etc.) (2) Can anyone verify/refute the fact that SI is an ISV for this product? I would also appreciate any comments or issues around the product. Thanks very much. Jim Smith

The SI "Rx Series Relational Accelerator" is a back end, 386 based SQL query server running Oracle and serving front end VAX Oracle systems. The server is good business for SI since they also sell the storage attached to the server. The Rx series claims 25 TP1 tps performance, and can support up to 4 VAX front end machines or clusters through Ethernet. It requires Oracle 6.0 and TPO licenses to operate, includes a performance monitor package and claims that no application modifications are necessary. I do not believe they are an ISV for Digital at this time, but I am sure they are one of our primary competitors in the VAX storage market. That's what I have on Rx! Chuck |
