Does anyone know where IBM DB2 stands in achieving FIPS-127 SQL compliance. Rdb/VMS is there today, I am looking for the number of non-conformities if any that DB2 has. Thanks in advance for any help.... Lisa Roberts

Lisa, First, FIPS 127 has been replaced with FIPS 127-1 (the former specified conformance with SQL-86, while the latter specifies conformance with SQL-89). I do not know the *details* of DB2 conformance with FIPS 127-1, but I do know that there are some problems related to the integrity enhancement option. The one that comes to mind offhand is that DB2 does not provide the DEFAULT clause with the same syntax or semantics of SQL-89. I suspect that there are additional problems with DB2, but I do not have a list. Hope this helps a little, Jim | |||||
