    A question came up regarding how Oracle computes its calculations. From
    what I understand, some other 4GL's convert numerical data to packed
    decimal before any computations are executed. Can anyone tell me how
    Oracle executes its computations and does it convert its numeric data
    to any other 'type' before actually doing the computes?
