930.0. "PROGRESS positioning?" by NEOV00::MRIVERA (Mario Rivera, EIS Monterrey Mexico) Fri May 17 1991 19:21

Hi:

I'm Mario Rivera from Monterrey, Mexico.

I would like to know how do you position the PROGRESS RDB and
development tools?

This questions arises because here in Mexico PROGRESS is been sold very well
and competing against Ingress, Oracle and some other data base products, even
Rdb. In one word, is beeing strongly considered by many large accounts.

However, by browsing this conference I can hardly find references on
PROGRESS.

Any comments?

Thanks and best regards

Ola Mario, look in the rally competitive conference for more data. We
focus on the database side here. You might also check the softbase or
    CIS infobases in VTX.

    Thanks, Barry

    I'll do that.

However, PROGRESS has also a database product

930.3PROGRESS uses Rdb/VMS on VMS35620::FOSTEROld RALLYator Sighted in MidwestWed Jul 03 1991 00:476
I believe that the current message from PROGRESS is to use their database on
PC's and use Rdb/VMS on VMS. Their 4GL tools will interface with either one.
It makes a nice message for us to offer a set of portable tools that allow
development on a PC and production operation on a VAX.
