I know that we need to use 3rd party gateway products to connect 
between a VAX and an AS400.  It also appears that none of these
vendors have a tool that allows the transfer of data between
the AS400 database and Rdb (like VIDA for DB2).  I was wondering
if anyone else out in the field has written such a tool so that
we don't necessarily have to reinvent the wheel for this
particular customer.

    Dave,
    
    I am not sure if they can help, but try COGNOS. They have or are
    actively porting their tools to the AS400. They may have some sort of
    gateway product.
