787.0. "Sybase pulling in their horns?" by VAOU02::NJOHNSON (Westcoast Wiz) Thu Nov 08 1990 07:14

    I have just heard an rumour (unconfirmed) that Sybase has closed all of
    their Canadian offices (except for Toronto). Has anyone else seen any
    of this kind of activity, in Australia or the US? This would be a
    great message to pass on to customers, if true!

    Hi Neil,

    See note 779. If there is no Sybase office in Vancouver, then you are
    most likely correct. Most sales people have been "let go". A couple
    have gone to the consulting sub to close up on-going business. It
    really sounds like they will close up completely by the end of the
    year.

787.3News of their demise may be greatly...VAOU02::NJOHNSONWestcoast WizWed Nov 21 1990 07:069
    I ave had an update from my customer who uses Sybase. They went to
    their Sybase rep (in alarm - ha, ha, ha...) and asked him to
    confirm/deny this rumour. Sybase claims that it was only the Winnipeg
    office that was shut down. The Vancouver Sales rep still claims to have
    a job (mores the pity). I am still trying to find out where the truth
    actually lies between these extremes. Ken, any more new from out there in
    Toronto?

787.4UK Management purge ARRODS::HOONHOUTGidday from the UK!Mon Aug 12 1991 18:3110
I believe they've just done a purge of the top three UK managers (GM,
Marketing manager, Services Manager).

I was told this was report in the computer press.

Can anyone confirm this and more importantly. Give the reasons why?

Cheers
John
