RDB_VMS_COMPETITION
After checking all of the above conferences I have not found a diffinitive
answer on implementing ORACLE SQL extensions in SQL/VMS.
The customer is a consulting firm which up to now has worked exclusively with
ORACLE. They are now interested in working with Rdb and possibly in helping to
convert customers from ORACLE to Rdb.
During their investigations of SQL/VMS, they uncovered a number of differences
between our SQL and ORACLE's. These include functions (DCODE), sub-string
maniupulation, SET support for column collections and date math.
I am looking for some sort of comparison showing differences with some
suggestions on how to implement these ORACLE extensions in SQL.
Please post all replies to note 1333 in the NOVA::SQL Conference (press KP7).
Many thanks
Paul
