| Wel,
O is constantly bringing out new versions to fix bugs from the older
ones. Version 6 was aimed at TP, version 7 is believed to be adressing
distributed databases (stuff like 2PC). Timeframes are hard to get but
I guess that it's at least one year out.
Cluster support is a nice thing, O has been working on that since 1984.
If you read the article in the Digital Review (may or june, I have a
photocopy), O claims to have DLM and cluster support in beta test. But,
the've claimed that many times before so I would not count on that.
I've found it interesting to know that customers are kept unaware that
O does not run on clusters and efficient on SMP. We should be telling
then that more often.

| Let's role play ... I'll be the Oracle salesman.... you be the
customer.
O: "when would you like version 7 ? ....... how much would you pay"
Seriously, Oracle's user group is coming up in the next two months
and you can sleep at night knowing that the good "O" boys will have
lots of marketing hype, unrealistic time frames, and deficient
products to talk about.
