648.0. "TP1 Oracle/Rdb question." by COPCLU::BRUNSGAARD (ACID isn't just music and junk) Wed May 16 1990 14:44
Hi everybody,
Now it is my turn to be involved in fighting back the nasty numbers
given out by Oracle regarding the TP1 benchmark numbers.
I will:
A) Tell them in a nice way that Apples and Oranges can't be compared
only TPC-a (or Debit Credit are conducted by Digital).
B) That Oracle is cheating (also in a nice way)
C) That Oracle havn't got the faintest idea of how to optimize an
Rdb database.
For point B I need to know what the Oracle parameter
LOG_CHECKPOINT_INTERVAL = 250000 is meaning
I know what the parameter is doing, I just do not know how long
time 250000 means postponing the checkpoint writing.
Should anyone have found something real usefull that is not already
in this conference I'll be very happy to get it.
Just reply here or mail me at
COPCLU::BRUNSGAARD
I'll keep you posted (might take long as it is the govermental Computer
Service organization that needs to look at our answer).
Lars
