We have a customer, currently Rdb, who is planning a large system of 500 active concurrent users. They are being advised by a consultant and UNIX/INGRES is rearing its head. Does anybody have any experience of customers hitting the wall with either UNIX or INGRES when the number of users rises? Anybody had to convert from INGRES to ACMS/Rdb? Thanks in advance Vaughan P.S. This is a cross note with ACMS 1310.0

Bernd Gutbier (COL01::GUTBIER) was involved in a benchmark for a big German customer between Ingres and Rdb. Contact him for the (thrilling) details on how Rdb and Ingres performed. Henny | |||||

The benchmark was done for the German Charter Airline LTU to find the best relational database sytem for their new reservation system. "Unfortunately" INGRES did not turn up, so we did it with ACMS/RDB. The benchmark was done in Galway February and March 90. The result was "good", that means we have "the pleasure to implement the new LTU Reservation System" with ACMS/RDB and DECforms.
