I have just been told that Ingres' Gateway to RMS files REQUIRES
Ingres' database!!! Is this a fact?
(If it's true, it will make bringing in Ingres Tools for Rdb real
questionable in an account looking for both database and RMS access.)
Assuming it's true, I've been asked if WE have any way to provide RMS
access to Ingres Tools for Rdb through Rdb. I know we don't but I
thought I'd ask anyway.

I think it's true, since Ingres would tend to read RMS through the
Ingres catalog.

What you are really looking for is a way to make RMS appear to the INGRES TOOLS as an Rdb database, rather than as RMS (which would require all of the INGRES infrastructure). I'm not sure who the correct Product Manager is, but try Mary Anne Fitzhugh. | |||||
