| Thanks to Michael Booth for providing the competitive fact sheets, but
is it possible to put ASCI text versions out on the net. Here in the
field not everyone has postscript printers!
Thanks,

628.3 | Not Yet | BANZAI::BOOTH | What am I?...An Oracle? | Wed May 02 1990 19:01 | 4 |
| It isn't there yet. I'm trying to get it together in the next couple of
weeks. This is more difficult than either Oracle or Sybase.

| Micheal,
Any way we can get an ASCII preview? I'm in the crucial stages of
competition with INGRES at Morgan Guarantee in New York. The bank's
corporate standard for databases is INGRES and they are just beginning
to consider alternatives for key projects locally. If this opportunity
flys, Rdb/VMS could unseat INGRES worldwide (in the long run, of
course).
Thanks,
Jose

628.5 | Agree, need amunition against Ingres | IJSAPL::OLTHOF | Henny Olthof @UTO 838-2021 | Fri May 04 1990 09:30 | 10 |
| True what has been said, we've been given so many arguments that we can
use to convince customers NOT to buy Oracle or Sybase that we forget
about Ingres. Personally I was involved in a number of situations
where we successfully combatted against Oracle but lost against Ingres.
Its probably hard to find solid arguments against Ingres because it's
capabilities are superior to those of Oracle but still we should try.

| The Ingres competitive fact sheet is now in the
NOVA::PM01:[booth.public] directory. The file name is (creatively)
Ingres_competitive.ps. Like the others, it is a PostScript file. Sorry,
but I'll try, that's try, to get these things in ASCI if I get the
time. There is currently no migration between ASCI and Cricket on the
MAC where these things are created.

628.8 | Now what? | MBALDY::LANGSTON | Rdb Sales Support Mercenary | Tue Sep 11 1990 04:53 | 10 |
| Now that Michael has left the company, I noticed that his files in
nova::pm01:[booth.public] have been removed, as well.
Where have the gone? Is there going to be an official keeper of the competitive
fact sheets, et al? Gil??
I'd volunteer to do it, but I don't have a Mac. Hey, that gives me an idea...
Just kidding.
