583.0. "Oracle/Rdb tech comparision doc??" by AUNTB::KULVETE () Mon Feb 26 1990 19:58

Does anyone have any type of technical documentation that compares Rdb
and Oracle? I came across an Ingres vs. Rdb Features and Functionality
document written by the Storage & Information Management Group
(engineering not marketing). I talked to one of them and found out
that one will be written for Oracle, but obviously this doesn't help me
now. Even a short description (10 or so pages?)of Oracles tecnical
features alone would be great. I need to talk to a customer about Rdb
while they are considering Oracle. I do have some documentation from
the marketing group of SIMG, but would like something more technically
    indepth.

    Thanks.

Not in depth enough ... the Ingres/Rdb comparison document had topics
such as architecture, database structure, storage structure, indices,
views, security etc. etc. ... 36 pages in all!!!

    Dave,

There is a Paine-Webber report available that gives competitive info on
ORACLE from both a product technical perspective and a company
financial perspective. I think you can order reprints.

For what it's worth, don't use the Paine Webber report. Instead, just
give a copy of Oracle's annual report to the VP of Finance. Let them
    find the "warts" for themselves.
